What Is Salt Spray Testing

Salt spray testing also called salt fog testing is an accelerated corrosion test used to evaluate the corrosion resistance of coated and uncoated metal samples. The sample is exposed to a controlled saline mist environment inside a sealed test chamber.

ASTM B117 Standard

ASTM B117 is the most widely used standard for salt spray testing. It specifies:
