Salt spray testing (also called salt fog testing) is an accelerated corrosion test used to evaluate the corrosion resistance of coated and uncoated metal samples. The sample is exposed to a controlled saline mist environment inside a sealed test chamber for a defined duration, after which the surface is examined for rust, pitting, or coating degradation.
